A Syrian official unveiled that anumber of agreements with Russia and one of the European countrieswere signed on the sidelines of Damascus International Fair despite the war and the western sanctions imposed on Damascus.
Eyad Mohammad, the head of the central committee of exportation at the federation of Syrian chambers of commerce told Al Watan newspaper that the Swedish delegation has signed several importation contracts from Syria during the fair without providing any additional details about these contracts.
He also pointed out that a contract has been signed between a private Syrian company and the Russian Commercial House in Crimea that is related to exporting Syrian fruits and vegetables to the Russian republic. He indicated that invitations areextended to the companies and delegations abroad to support and market the Syrianexports, and that the increasing participation inDamascus International Fair is a sign of the importance of the Syrian economic.
In the same vein,the Syrian ministry of oil and mineral resources signed three contracts with Russian companies concerning oil and gas at the ministry’sstand in Damascus International Fair.
Eng. Bassam Tomeh, the general director of the general corporation of oil, representing the Syrian side,signed the contracts with the general director of “Vielada Olek Kerelof” Company, and the general director of “Merkori Dimitri Green Kieve” company, representing the Russian side. Eng.
Ali Ghanem the minister of oil and mineral resources said: “we have concluded three contracts with Russian companies in the fields of survey, drilling and production in oil and gas sectors in the middle and eastern areas”.
He added that these contracts are the result of the mutual Russian Syrian cooperation in the economic field and the road map signed between the ministry of oil and mineral resources and the Russian ministry of energy in 2018.
The general director of “Merkori” company said tha tthe concluded contract is dedicated for oil drillingand it has large area where drilling will be conducted in areas expected to have oillater on.
In addition, the area will be prepared andhave the required infrastructure; pointing out that this contract will create considerable job opportunities inspheres related to the company’s work.
